Rodent Trap Rio Dulce
ROUGH TRANSLATIONS: French German Spanish Italian Portuguese Chinese Japanese Korean

Materials
one 5 gallon bucket
a piece of wire or thin rope
a plastic bottle
a “ramp”
peanut butter
a drill
Depending upon the space you have, this trap works great for either live catch or if you choose, put some water at the bottom and your catch will drown. I have another plan made of large water bottles that uses less space, but there are some issues with supporting it so the rodent doesn't knock it over and get away. Other from that it works real well, if interested in that plan, contact me.

Drill a small hole in each end of the plastic bottle. I use a stripped piece of electrical wire but bailing wire or any decent sized wire will work. Thread it through the bottle and secure the ends to the bucket’s handles. The bottle should then sit over the bucket’s opening with the ability to spin freely. Lather it in peanut butter, place the bucket where the mice are apt to smell it, and set a ramp for the mice to climb. I used a scrap piece of drywall, but anything will work.

The mice climb up the ramp which can be just about any width, when they reach for the peanut butter, the bottle spins and they fall into the bucket. They can’t get out. For this purpose, I put several inches of water in the bottom of the bucket and let them drown. Cruel? Perhaps, but using poisons just create another trap for some other animal if your catch isn't disposed of correctly and that could be your pet.
